Beyond the routine
Three jobs the office still does by hand.
Each one was taken up for the same reason: it repeats, it is easy to get wrong, and it is expensive when it goes wrong.
Fee bifurcation, ready for Tally
Fees for any period, split head by head and set out in the form Tally expects to be given. The figures go in as they are; there is no second sitting to rearrange them.
Contractual staff, on their own screen
They are paid on a different footing from regular staff, so they get a form built for that — only the fields that apply, and the same slips and registers at the end of it.
The payment window you cannot afford to miss
Receipt and acceptance against an order open a fixed window to pay, and being late attracts a penalty. Set the date against the order once and the application raises it on the day — not the week after.

Salary is entered once. The rest of the year is worked out from it.
Vetan Setu is not a second application to install. It is part of Karyalaya Setu now, and a toggle moves you between the office side and the salary side — same file, same sign-in, nothing to open again.

The year's tax, kept current
Each person's working is built from the salary already recorded — declarations, chosen regime, deductions and all — and moves with every month you add, instead of being assembled again in May.
Quarterly returns without a second set of books
Form 138 for salary and Form 140 for other payments — the forms that took the place of 24Q and 26Q — drawn from the same figures the slips were printed from.
Arrears from a revised rate
Enter the revised rates. Every affected month is worked out again, and the bill, the schedule and the recovery come out with it.
Profiles that write themselves
Staff records are raised from the first salary you bring in, with designation and category read from it. You correct what is wrong instead of typing it all in.
Ask it anything about what was paid
To whom, under what head, in which period, on which footing — filters combine until the question on screen is the one you actually had.
On your own network
Staff can see their own pay, over the office Wi-Fi.
While the office computer is running, anyone on the same Wi-Fi or LAN opens it in a browser on a phone or a laptop. No internet is involved at any point, and nothing is emailed, uploaded or exported to get it there.
Their pay slips, to read and print
Each person signs in and sees only their own record — pay slips on screen, and a printout from the same page whenever they need one.
Updated the moment the office saves
When salary or a payment is entered on the office computer, it is already on their dashboard. Nobody has to ask, and nobody has to send anything.
Their own options to adjust
They can change their own entries and see immediately what it does to their figures, without touching anything the office has recorded.

It is not funded, sponsored or commissioned by anyone, and it is not an official product of any body.
Not a replacement
It does not replace any system already in use, and it does not intend to.
It sits alongside the way you work now and takes the repetitive part of it off your hands.
It assists, it does not decide
Every figure, ceiling, rate and document it prepares must be checked against the
latest circular or order from the official source before it is used or signed. The software does
not interpret rules and is not an authority on them.
Activated offline
Each installation shows a short machine code. Send that code to the developer,
receive an activation code back, and the copy unlocks on that computer. No internet connection
is used at any stage of activation and nothing leaves the machine — the code identifies a
computer, not a person, and exists only so the developer knows how many computers are running
the software.
Offline and personal
It runs entirely on the computer it is installed on. No office record is sent to the
internet, to the developer or to anyone else. No account, no telemetry, no advertising.
Made to simplify
The aim is narrow and practical: do the routine work automatically, keep the
figures consistent, and hand you the finished paper instead of a blank form.
Before you install
Minimum system requirements.
Written for an ordinary office machine. Nothing here asks for new hardware.
- Operating system
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11 — 64-bit. There is no 32-bit build; Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are not supported.
- Processor
- Any 64-bit dual-core processor.
- Memory
- 4 GB minimum. 8 GB is comfortable if a browser is open alongside.
- Disk space
- About 1 GB free. Records themselves add very little.
- Graphics
- Nothing in particular — built-in graphics are enough.
- Display
- 1366 × 768 or larger.
If it feels slow on an older machine, open Settings → Appearance and turn on
Reduce animation. Nothing is removed and no feature is lost; only the movement stops.

About this software. Karyalaya Setu (referred to below as "the software", whether called a software or an app) is conceived, designed and developed by Gourav Kundu ("the developer"), entirely in his personal capacity, in his personal time, and without the use of any official position, resources or funds. It is not an official product of, and is not endorsed, funded or commissioned by, any organisation, department or institution. Website: https://gouravkundu.com

Intended use — private use only. If you have a copy of this software, you are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use it for your own private use only, on the computer it is installed on. You may not share, distribute or pass on the software to others without the proper authorisation of the developer.

No charges. This is proprietary software which the developer currently provides at no charge, and no undertaking is given about how it will be provided in future. Nobody else is authorised to charge for it, and any demand for money for this software — by anyone, from anyone — is unauthorised.

Machine code and offline activation. Every installation shows a short machine code, derived from the computer itself, in Settings → Licence. That code is what activation uses: you obtain an activation code from the developer by contacting him, enter it, and the copy is activated on that computer. Activation is done entirely offline — no internet connection is required or used, and the software transmits nothing at any point. The machine code identifies a computer, not a person, and no data is shared. Its only purpose is to let the developer know how many computers are running the software.

Offline by design. The software runs entirely on this computer. No office record — payments, vendors, budgets, salaries or anything else — is ever transmitted to the internet, to the developer, or to any third party. The only optional, user-initiated exceptions are a manual "Check for updates" click (compares version numbers only), and a manual "Test internet connection" click in the title bar (checks only whether the connection works, sends nothing else). A Data Transfer symbol in the title bar lights up for exactly as long as any such request is in flight, and only then, so this is something you can see for yourself rather than take on trust. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no resale of data. Local network (LAN) viewing and encrypted pen-drive sync move data only to devices you explicitly connect.

Third-party names and logos. Any name or logo that may appear in this software belongs to its own owner. Such items are available for use by the user at the user's own discretion and responsibility; their presence does not imply any association with, or endorsement by, their owners. A tool, not an authority. The software is an assistive record-keeping and document-preparation tool. It does not replace, interpret or override the rules, codes, tax law or procurement instructions applicable to the user or to the user's institution, or any order issued under them. Accuracy of figures, ceilings, tax rates, entries and generated documents remains the sole responsibility of the user and the institution, and all outputs must be verified against the latest circular or provision in force before use.

No liability whatsoever. The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be held responsible or accountable, in any case possible, for any use or misuse of the software, including any miscalculation, data loss, financial loss, audit objection, disciplinary or legal consequence, or any other direct or indirect loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, this software. Use of the software constitutes acceptance of this allocation of risk.

Ownership. All intellectual property rights in the software — its source code, design, workflows, generated document formats, the names "Karyalaya Setu" and "Vetan Setu" and their logos — vest solely and exclusively in the developer. No ownership passes to you or to your institution.

Prohibited acts. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense, decompile, reverse-engineer or modify the software, remove or alter any notice, or charge anyone anything for it. Any such act ends your permission to use the software and may attract legal action.

Record of acceptance. Your acceptance of this policy — with its version number and the exact date and time — is permanently recorded in each installation's audit log and shown in Settings → About, Terms & Privacy.

These terms may change, and the website is final. These terms and this privacy policy may be amended, replaced or withdrawn at any time, at the sole discretion of the developer, WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. Because the software runs offline and does not connect to any server unless you switch a connection on yourself, the copy of these terms shown inside an installation is only the version current at the time that copy was prepared, and it may be out of date.
